About the Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (PPCR)

The $1.2 billion Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) is a funding mechanism under the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) and is helping developing countries integrate climate resilience into development planning and investment. It is the world’s largest climate change adaptation fund.

The PPCR has a two phase programmatic approach:

  1. It assists national governments in integrating climate resilience into development planning across sectors and stakeholder groups.
  2. It provides additional funding to put these plans into action and to pilot innovative public and private sector solutions to pressing climate-related risks.

To date, $939 million (about 80% of PPCR funding) has been approved and is being utilised to implement 58 projects in a range of countries. The PPCR is working at the national level in 27 countries (including five in the Caribbean) and at the regional level in the Caribbean and the Pacific.
