The Investment Plan for the Caribbean Regional Track of the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (Caribbean Regional PPCR), through our partners the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CiMH) have begun the installation of eight (8) Automatic Weather Monitoring Stations in Dominica.
This leg of the project represents the Caribbean Regional PPCR’s commitment to assisting with the rebuilding of Dominica, which had seen major damage from Hurricane Maria in 2017. The weather stations will provide the Dominica Met Service with the ability to more accurately make weather predictions. An additional benefit is that automatic weather stations save time and effort in getting measurements.
The installations fall under Component 2 of the Caribbean Regional PPCR: Strengthening Regional Climate Networks and Global Platform Linkages, which is being executed through the CiMH.
Other countries slated for Automatic Weather Station installations are St. Vincent & the Grenadines and St. Lucia.
