PPCR Highlights Research in the Caribbean, Jamaica during UWI Mona’s Research Days 2018

Various projects under the Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (PPCR) in the Caribbean and In Jamaica, in partnership with the Department of Physics at UWI Mona, mounted a joint booth at UWI Mona’s Research Days held on February 7-9, 2018 on the university campus.

The joint booth demonstrated research which the PPCR is supporting in: climate modelling for the Caribbean by the Climate Studies Group Mona, crop modelling with the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI), publication of  2015 State of the Jamaican Climate Report, the private sector-focused Water Project being implemented by JN Foundation, and mapping of the Upper Rio Minho Watershed via drones to inform the location of check dams and other climate-resilient infrastructure.

The PPCR projects in Jamaica are funded by the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) through the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and through the World Bank.
